PROJECTS
DEAR APOCALYPSE
With songs written over the course of 10 years and inspired by personal "apocalypes" that we all face, this rock opera was a collaboration between musician/performance artist Kat Jones, Rebekah Hampton Barger of FALL, and writer/performance artists Tavius Marshall and A. Almond-Harvey. With her band, The Prophets, Kat performed the entirety of her full-length album, with FALL joining the band on stage for seven out of ten songs.
HAUNTED
Created and presented in collaboration with Actors Bridge Ensemble and abrasiveMedia, HAUNTED was an ambitious, site-specific and site-responsive, immersive theatrical production that explored the forgotten stories of the Dutchman's Curve train crash, America's deadliest railway accident, that happened in Nashville a century prior.
THE NIGHT GIRL
A flurry of motion and spinning, contrasted by beautiful lines, shapes, and tableaus, this piece was commissioned by harpist/composer Timbre as a music video for her concept album Sun and Moon. The rich imagery in the song, as well as the short story by George MacDonald on which it is based, provided a wealth of inspiration for the choreography and inhabits that delicate balance between light and dark, pain and glory.
RESOLUTION
Resolution was a concept album created by musician and performance artist Genuine Joy (Joshua Wolak). Described by the artist as an "agnostic gospel record", the album chronicled his emotional and soul-searching crisis of faith. In addition to the music video for Preacherman, in 2018, FALL joined Genuine Joy onstage, along with a string quartet and vocal trio, for a one-night-only rock opera performance. Poignantly, this was to be Joshua's final project, as he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer just a few months later. After an incredible several-year battle, he was taken by the illness on January 1, 2025.
THE NARRATOR
”I am The Narrator.” The poet’s refrain is a powerful reminder that the stories we tell ourselves have the ability to shape our path. Originally conceived in 2011 with RHB and writer Tavius Marshall, this restaging in 2019 was given new life with the addition of collaborator David Flores. This work examines our inner world and how the stories in our heads affect the way we relate to things outside.
BROKEN CYMBALS
This piece explores movement created through a blending of genres & disciplines, while looking into the potential that lies in allowing limitations to fuel creativity. The movement was developed in collaboration with martial artist Justin Harvey, who was also a guest performer. It incorporates music by cellist Zoe Keating, as well as an original track composed by Nashville-based musician Andrew Collins, from which the work draws its title.
FIVE THINGS I KNOW TO BE TRUE
Exploring ideas of identity and insecurity, the lies we tell ourselves, and the truth of who we are underneath, this solo by RHB was inspired by a writing exercise developed by poet Sarah Kay. With a hundred million thoughts and ideas and feelings and emotions and reactions, a small peace can sometimes be found by dipping into the swirling chaos to find a few truths to hold on to.
